About the Mamava lactation pod
Mamava and CDH celebrate breastfeeding and believe that parents have the right to feed their babies however—and wherever—they choose. Every parent is different. Some need private spaces to pump. Some prefer privacy for nursing, while others may need help containing a toddler to feed an infant.
Mamava lactation pods were created by two moms to make sure that all breastfeeding parents have choices and access to a comfortable dignified space wherever they go. Intentionally designed to provide a calming oasis, Mamava pods also serve as friendly reminders that breastfeeding and pumping are happening all around us.
- Le Mamava Flex is designed for privacy and comfort for parents.
- The pod is ADA compliant, soundproof, and has a private locking door.
- The pod ensures the safety of our patients and contributes to the wellbeing of moms and their babies through infrastructure and support for breastfeeding.
See below for frequently asked questions.
Why isn't there a changing station inside the pod?
- Mamava pods are solely for breastfeeding and pumping so that no one has to serve or prepare their baby’s food in a bathroom.
- The interior of our Mamava pods is made of a food-grade surface to make it easy to clean and sanitize, but changing diapers in a pod runs the risk of soiling it for the next occupant.
- We always recommend that pods be placed in close proximity to a restroom with a changing station.
Is there a sink inside the pod?
- Mamava pods don’t have sinks. Mamava pods are designed to be freestanding lactation spaces that can be easily installed and moved, if needed.
- While we recognize the added value of a sink, including plumbing would significantly affect the mobility, and affordability, of the pods for too many facilities.
Why don't you have trash cans inside the pod?
- The “carry-in, carry-out” policy helps make sure that pods are clean for the next user!
- The CDH Mamava pod is located near bathrooms for easy access to a sink and trash can.
How do I get into the pod?
If the pod is not being used, you can unlock it through the free mobile app or by using the keypad:
- To use the keypad: Input the four-digit code printed on the door (followed by #) and the door will unlock.
- To use the mobile app: Download it from your app store and then allow the app to locate our pod. Press the on-screen button to unlock. (Make sure that your Bluetooth is on to pair with the pod.)
Why do I need an app to access your pods?
- You do not need the app to open the door (the code is printed above the lock), but using the app allows you to reserve the space and helps to ensure that it’s used solely as a lactation space and not a phone booth, etc.
- The app opens the pod with a press of a button, shows pod availability and alerts you when it becomes available.
- In addition, the app includes thousands of other Mamava-approved lactation spaces—never a bathroom—added by other breastfeeding heroes paying it forward for the next person!
