BOISE, April 1, 2025: No fooling! April 1 is Take Down Tobacco Day – an opportunity for people to come together to stand up to tobacco and e-cigarette companies. This National Day of Action is an effort by Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids to expose the tricks the tobacco and e-cigarette industry uses to lure kids into addiction such as developing products with fun flavors that include massive doses of nicotine. You can learn more here: TakeDownTobaccoDay.
Saúde do Distrito Central (CDH) is joining the effort by collaborating with other community organizations to share information with families and youth at several events in April:
- April 10: Do the Right Fair at Meridian Middle School, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
- April 22: Welcome to the Unaltered State Documentary Screening at West Ada School District; doors open at 7 p.m.
- April 26: More Social Less Media at Eagle High School, noon to 4 p.m.
- April 28: Parent/Guardian Virtual Education to Prevent Youth Vaping Virtual Presentation, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Families who register and attend the April 22 event will enjoy free tacos and have a chance to win one of five $100 door prizes to Top Golf, Dave & Busters or a movie theater. Additionally, participants who register and attend the April 28 event will be entered in a drawing for a $100 gift card.
The use of tobacco and e-cigarette products is the leading cause of preventable death in this country. Although traditional tobacco product use has decreased in recent years, use of nicotine products, including synthetic nicotine and vaping has increased. CDH promotes a nicotine-free lifestyle and healthier environments through education, policy and the resources and support to help you quit.
