Foodborne Illnesses
Foodborne illnesses cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and cramps. They are often spread by contaminated food or water.
Idaho experiences various foodborne illnesses, with recent concerns highlighting increases in Campylobacter and E. coli linked to raw milk, plus general outbreaks of pathogens like Salmonella, Norovirus, and Listeria, often driven by unlicensed vendors and consumption of risky foods (e.g., unpasteurized (raw) milk, raw/undercooked meats, eggs, and shellfish).
