Central District Health (CDH) Environmental Health works to prevent foodborne illness through education and inspections. We educate food service employees and inspect restaurants, grocery stores, schools, temporary and mobile vendors, and other establishments that provide food to the public.

Report Food Poisoning
If you think you have food poisoning, contact the Central District Health office nearest you or use our online reporting tool below. Our staff will follow up with you as part of the investigation process. Please be prepared to answer specific questions about food you ate up to three days before you became ill.

Email Food Safety or call the CDH office in your county. Please include the establishment name, location, date, and issue in your message.
Yes, insects and pests in a restaurant are a violation of the IDHW – Idaho Food Code. If you have questions about restaurant operations, please contact a health inspector in your area.

The Food Safety Exam is the same statewide and is good for five years. All answers on the Food Safety Exam can be found on the Idaho Food Safety and Sanitation Manual.

If a product is deemed potentially hazardous then it must be produced in an approved and licensed food establishment. If you are going to construct a new kitchen, a plan review must be completed with a health inspector before construction begins.
The IDHW – Idaho Food Code is the set of rules that are applied to food establishments throughout the state of Idaho.

Review the Temporary Food Establishment License / Special Events Information in the Temporary Food Establishments Fees, Applications and Guidance section. The Temporary Food Event Application must be submitted at least 30 days before the event. Include the names of the food vendors with the application. Each food vendor must submit a completed Temporary Food Establishment application at least two weeks prior to the event.
