Central District Health lifts public health advisory for Ada, Boise, Elmore, & Valley Counties

CENTRAL DISTRICT HEALTH — Today, Central District Health (CDH) lifted the public health advisory in place for Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley Counties, based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People and the recent move to Stage 4 Stay Healthy Guidelines on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, by the State of Idaho.

Residents in CDH’s jurisdiction are encouraged to continue following local, state, and federal guidelines, along with adhering to business protocols and policies. Unvaccinated individuals should continue to wear a mask in public spaces and maintain six feet of physical distance when around others who aren’t members of your household.

Considerations for mask-wearing
CDH encourages vaccinated individuals who still want to wear a mask to do so and to make educated decisions depending on the setting you’re in and those who may be around you. Regardless of a person’s COVID-19 vaccine status, consistently and properly wearing a face covering in public remains an effective, low-to-no cost way to protect those outside of your household and also provides you, the wearer, with protection. Some situations remain at a higher risk, such as visiting an indoor establishment, versus outdoor venues. Think about possible scenarios and make prepared decisions when around those who haven’t had the chance to get vaccinated, such as adolescents and children, and those who are immunocompromised.

In the summertime, gatherings bring together youth groups and adolescents who haven’t had the opportunity to get vaccinated, such as schools, daycares, summer camps, and youth sports. CDH encourages organizations and venues to consider recommending mask-wearing until those age groups have had the chance to receive the vaccine.

CDH will release further guidance on COVID safety considerations and recommendations for venues and events containing groups of unvaccinated people next week. “Central District Health has always based our decisions for pandemic precautions on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” said Russ Duke, District Director for CDH. “With today’s announcement that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks or physically distance, in most indoor and outdoor settings, our public health advisory for COVID-19 is being lifted,” added Duke.

CDH continues to monitor case counts, school categories, variants of concern, and vaccination rates of our four-county jurisdiction. Guidance to our communities will continue to be modified, based on the most current scientific data, with the goal of keeping our communities safe through the continuation of this pandemic.
